COMMUTER BENEFIT
INCENTIVE PROGRAM

When the federal government passed the stimulus bill earlier this year, it provided that up to $230 per month per employee may now be set aside, tax-free, for mass transit, vanpool and other qualified transportation expenses incurred while traveling to and from the workplace.

To this end, the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance is rolling out a new incentive program for employers in San Mateo County. To motivate employers to offer this cost-saving plan to Peninsula commuters, the Alliance is promoting the COMMUTER BENEFIT Employer Incentive Program this quarter. Cash awards -- up to $1,000 -- may be earned by employers to help offset start-up fees and to promote a new pre-tax commuter benefit program for its employees.

Attached, please find the flyer about this new "stimulus" program for employers. With it is the Registration form, along with the program requirements and guidelines. Peninsula businesses and organizations who are interested in offering this pre-tax benefit to their employees are encouraged to apply. Alliance staff will provide "start-up" assistance to those who register, in addition to cash rewards (see flyer).

To advertise this employer incentive, we wish to link up with your chamber's extensive connections to the business community. More specifically, we are interested in inserting the attached flyer in your next chamber newsletter -- printed or online. May we request from your chamber the necessary information to outreach your chamber members? It should include publication specifications (e.g., date/s, deadlines, ad sizes, insertion costs).

We hope this new program would provide some financial relief to commuters and workers in San Mateo County. Thank you in advance of your prompt response (via email, or fax, preferred).

Drive less. Save more. Stress less. Your ongoing support of Alliance programs and services is much appreciated.
